Submitted on 2012/04/19 at 5:28 am We did this tonight at “Imperial CrossFit” with another guy & 2 girls.
Scaled the girls bar to 95 lbs. Me and my friend Grover did the 145 lbs. I finished the mile in 17 mins 15.75 seconds.
I was the first to finish but one of the girls was having a hard time finishing the last 2 laps. Walked to find her and started encouraging that she could do it. When she finished the 3rd lap, she dropped the bar and then thought to myself, I gotta help her more… Grabbed my still loaded bar and threw it on my back and yelled to her, “THAT I GOT THIS LAST LAP WITH YOU!”
Took her about 8 minutes to finish it but all 3 of us joined her and did an extra lap so that she could finish the mile. No one gets left behind at our gym…
The hardest lap for me was the 2nd lap. The mental challenge of having the bar on your back for so long is the beast. Your hands are falling asleep while holding the bar. But I never dropped my bar. That was my personal goal.
